Supported Account Types
Nova supports 11 different account types across both connected (Plaid) and manual accounts. Here's the full breakdown so you can capture your complete financial picture.
Connected via Plaid
Through Plaid, Nova connects to 20,000+ financial institutions and automatically imports these account types:
- Checking Accounts — Your everyday spending accounts
- Savings Accounts — High-yield, traditional, money market
- Credit Cards — Tracked as liabilities against your net worth
- Loans — Auto loans, personal loans, student loans, mortgages
- Investment Accounts — Brokerage, 401(k), IRA, Roth IRA, HSA
- Lines of Credit — HELOCs, personal credit lines
Manual Accounts
For assets and debts that live outside the banking system, add them manually:
- Real Estate — Primary home, rental properties, vacation homes, land. Enter the current estimated market value.
- Vehicles — Cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, boats. Enter the current estimated market value.
- Cryptocurrency — Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, or any other holdings. Enter total value.
- Other Assets — Business equity, collectibles, jewelry, art, cash, precious metals — anything of value that doesn't fit other categories.
- Other Liabilities — Personal loans from friends/family, tax debts, legal judgments, or any debts not held by a financial institution.
How Account Types Affect Your Dashboard
Each account type feeds into your Asset Allocation chart, giving you a clear picture of diversification. They also influence your Health Score — Charlie uses your mix of assets and liabilities to assess your financial wellness and offer tailored insights.
