Getting Started

1. Create Your Account

Sign up with your email address. We use Clerk for secure authentication - your credentials are never stored by Nova.

2. Add Your First Account

Choose between automatic connection (Plaid/Yodlee) or manual entry:

  • Automatic: Connect 20,000+ institutions, auto-sync transactions
  • Manual: Enter account details yourself, update manually

3. Explore Your Dashboard

Once you've added accounts, explore these features:

  • View your net worth trend over time
  • Analyze spending by category
  • See detected subscriptions
  • Set financial goals
  • Create budgets

Managing Accounts

How do I connect my bank?

  1. Go to Accounts → Add Account
  2. Click "Connect with Plaid"
  3. Search for your bank (20,000+ supported)
  4. Enter your credentials on your bank's secure page
  5. Select which accounts to link
  6. Done! Your accounts will auto-sync daily

What types of accounts can I add?

Assets: Cash, Checking, Savings, Investment, Retirement, Real Estate, Vehicles, Cryptocurrency

Liabilities: Credit Cards, Loans, Mortgages, Other Debt

What insights does Nova provide?

  • Spending Analytics: See where your money goes by category
  • Cash Flow Forecast: Predict future account balances (7-90 days)
  • Savings Rate: Track how much you save each month
  • Financial Health Score: 0-100 score based on multiple factors
  • Spending Alerts: Detect unusual spending patterns
  • Budget Recommendations: AI-suggested budgets based on your habits

Subscription Detection

How does subscription detection work?

Nova automatically analyzes your transaction history (last 12 months) to detect recurring payments.

Requirements for detection:

  • At least 3 transactions from the same merchant
  • Consistent timing (weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly)
  • Similar amounts
  • 70%+ confidence score

Note: New subscriptions may take 2-3 billing cycles to be detected with high confidence.

How is my data protected?

  • Bank-level AES-256 encryption for all data

  • We NEVER store your bank login credentials
