Budget Management Tools

Nova's budgeting tools help you take control of your spending and make sure your money is going where you want it.

Creating a Budget

1. Navigate to Budgets from the main menu
2. Tap + Create Budget
3. Choose a budget period: Weekly, Monthly, or Custom
4. Set spending limits for each category (e.g., Dining, Groceries, Entertainment)
5. Tap Save

Nova will pre-populate suggested amounts based on your recent spending history, so you don't have to start from scratch.

Tracking Your Spending

Once your budget is set, Nova automatically tracks every transaction against your limits:

• Progress bars show how much you've spent vs. your limit in each category
• Color coding keeps things clear — green (on track), yellow (approaching limit), red (over budget)
• Daily and weekly summaries keep you informed without overwhelming you

Charlie will also send you a heads-up if you're pacing to exceed a budget before the period ends.

Categories

Nova comes with a set of default spending categories that cover most needs:

• Housing, Transportation, Groceries, Dining, Entertainment, Shopping, Health, Subscriptions, Utilities, and more

You can also create custom categories to match your lifestyle. To add one:

1. Go to Budgets → Categories
2. Tap + Add Category
3. Name it, pick an icon, and set an optional default limit

Budget Insights

SuperNova subscribers get access to advanced budget analytics, including month-over-month comparisons, trend charts, and Charlie's personalized tips for optimizing your spending.

Both Nova ($9.99/mo) and SuperNova ($19.99/mo) include full budgeting tools — SuperNova simply adds deeper analysis.
